Nick Petty is a Musician, Producer, and all around art enthusiast. Born and raised in Salt Lake City Utah, Nick currently performs and studies in Boston.
Starting his music education at the School of Rock, Nick quickly found a deep interest in guitar, studying classic rock, metal, and grunge. A few years at SOR led him to join the elite School of Rock All Stars, giving him the opportunity to tour with musicians from the west coast. It was on this tour Nick decided he wanted to play music professionally.
Nick attended The University of Utah where he was first introduced to Jazz, and Snow College where he was able to study with Julliard faculty including Rodney Jones, Willie Applewhite, Ron Blake, and several others before finding his place at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
At Berklee, Nick was exposed to many musical styles and playing concepts. Here, he played settings including solo acoustic guitar for private events, Drum and Guitar hip-hop duo at bars and clubs, and "No Limits" top 40s wedding band. During this time, he was able to study with guitarists David Tronzo, Mick Goodrick, Julian Lage and Dave Fiuczynski, as well as pianist Kenny Werner. Dedicated to taking his experience further, he spent a semester abroad at Berklee Valencia in Spain, where he studied Spanish/Flamenco Guitar, Electronic Dance Music, and Video Production.
Currently, Nick is in his last semester as a Contemporary Writing and Production major, with a minor in Music Technology and Innovation. He plans to continue learning from all of the great musicians around him, pursue original music projects, and take advantage of any opportunity to play and perform.
